1.Who can enter this contest?

Open to any amateur home brewer, 21 years old or older.

2. How many beer categories are there?

There are no specific beer categories. This is a “Best in Show” competition, so all beer styles are judged against each other.

3. How many beer styles can I enter?

Limit is three entries per brewer or household.

4. What type of bottle is required?

Every bottle must be 10 to 14 ounces in volume, brown or green glass and be free of raised-glass or inked brand-name lettering and paper labels. Obliterate any lettering or graphics on the cap with a permanent black marker.

5. How many bottles do I submit?

Send three (3) bottles for each beer entry.

6. What are the entry fees?

$10 per entry

7. When is the entry deadline?

Entries must be received at designated site by June 4, 2015.

8. How do I enter?

(a) For each entry, fill out an Entry Form in its entirety.

(b) Print the Bottle Label PDF and attach one label to each bottle with a rubber band. Note: Your entry will be disqualified if you use glue or tape to secure the label to the bottle.

(c) All submissions must be dropped off at or shipped to Publik Draft House by June 4, 2015. Preliminary judging will take place in June 2015. A blind taste test of finalists will take place at the Great Southern Craft Beer Competition party and the winner will be announced at that event, taking place Summer 2015.

9. How do I ship my entry?

(a) If shipping your entries, carefully place them in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material and do not over pack! Write clearly: “Fragile. This Side Up.” on the package. Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles. Please refrain from using packing “peanuts” if possible. Use bubble wrap or newspaper instead.

(b) It is not against any Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regulations or federal laws to ship your entries for analytical purposes via a privately owned shipping company. However, it is illegal to ship alcoholic beverages via the U.S. Postal Service. Note: Private shipping companies may refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass or alcoholic beverages

10. What are the entry requirements?

(a) Your homebrew must not have been brewed at any place that brews beverages for commercial purposes, whether for commercial research, production or any other purpose, including brew-on-premise establishments.

(b) You must give the names of all brewers who assisted in the brewing.

11. How can entries be disqualified?

At the discretion of Publik Draft House, entries will be disqualified for eligibility or entry requirement infractions.

12. How will the judging be done?

All homebrews will be judged by a panel of four judges. (Judges will be announced closer to the competition and information will live on the website.)

13. What are the Awards and Prizes?

For the overall Best Brew Prize, the winner will receive $1,000, distribution and feature on Publik Draft House’s menu. Publik Draft House will coordinate local brewing and purchasing with the winner.
